Urban Botanic® was founded in 2005 by McKenna Gordon, but the real beginning of Urban Botanic goes
back to her childhood. McKenna was born with an extra-ordinary sense of smell. She would reflexively smell
a greeting card or a book before she opened it, and when recalling memories, she would always associate
a scent with each event or person. McKenna spent all her lemonade stand money on different lotions and body sprays. Her family would tease her about this quirky obsession with fragrance, but she laughed along with them because fragrance brought so much joy to her life.

Many years later, while reading her childhood diary, McKenna was reminded of a dream she had to share
her amazing sense of smell in a unique, personalized way. The art of perfumery is very complicated, but to
McKenna, it is simple. After years of research and experimentation with fragrance design and the sure connection between ones personality and their favorite scents, she developed a very simple, affordable, patent-pending system for creating a signature fragrance.
