McKenna Gordon founded
Urban Botanic in 2005, but the real beginning of Urban
Botanic goes back to her childhood. As a child, McKenna
was exceptionally creative, intelligent, and curious;
particularly about smells. With an extra-ordinary sense,
she would reflexively smell a greeting card or a book
before she opened it. Her family noticed this and would
joke with her about her collection of over 50 lotions
and body sprays, all with a different scent. She could
never decide which one she liked best.
Years later, while reading her childhood diary, she was reminded of a dream she had to share her amazing sense of smell. For McKenna the power of a person's scent would bring back detailed memories of people and the personality they portray with their scent. McKenna searched for a way to help others enjoy fragrances in a new simple way - to blend scents into a signature fragrance that is unique to each person, a scent they love, but only they can wear.
Urban Botanic was founded to celebrate individuality and help our customers create a lovely fragrance that portrays those unique and wonderful character traits that every human possesses. The art of perfume is complicated, but to McKenna it is really simple. And after a lot of research and experimentation, she has developed a very simple, affordable, clear-cut system for creating a signature scent that works for everyone.
Urban Botanic products are distributed by independent Fragrance Designers at in-home parties where the hostess receives incentives for opening her home to friends and family. Guests learn about the fragrance design process and choose from Urban Botanic's high quality perfume oils to create a scent that's original and unique - all in just few minutes. After they create a fragrance they love, they blend it into a perfume, lotion or other product right at the home party.
Urban Botanic manufactures proprietary formulas for unscented, hypoallergenic, high-grade lotions, perfumes, and other products that blend with their perfume oils. The base products and perfume oils are formulated to be blended together and saturate immediately upon mixing and stay blended throughout the shelf life of the product.
